Google is adding higher resolution images to their map services all the time. Normally you wouldn't notice so much unless you happen to have an interest in the area that was updated, and even then you might find yourself saying "is this better than it used to be?" "I think it is" "I dunno". Well, you can definitely tell for these images that require a few more notches on the zoom bar.
